John Morley Fletcher was educated at Colet Court, St, Paul's, London and Kensington High School.
He sailed to the USA on 26 10 1926; from 1929, lived in the USA; in New York City until shortly after the start of WW2; from then until 1 7 1945 was attached to the British Embassy, Washington; 1945 to 1 7 1946, was appointed Acting Vice-Consul, New York City (British Consulate General, 25 Broadway, New York); 7 10 1946, "returning to private life", with a future address of Commission Agents, 210 East 68 Street, New York City 21; (later J Morley- Fletcher, importers of decorative linens).
