Dick Fletcher was educated at Lindisfarne College Preparatory School, Westcliff on Sea; St Paul's School and Worcester College, Oxford.

Dick Fletcher donated the Morley-Fletcher Room, part of Worcester College's Linbury Building at Oxford University to be used by college societies and for social purposes.

In WW1, served as a Second Lieutenant 2/9th Batallion, London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles), 4 5 1915; Captain 2nd /9th 9 London Regiment; 1917, slightly gassed; then Lieutenant Royal Flying Corps, 1918; WW2: Squadron Leader, RAF; Solicitor 1924; some time with the Inland Revenue; with Corbin Green & Cook, Bedford Square, WC1; retired 31 7 1946.

Dick was cremated and his ashes buried under the Dawn Cypress tree in the garden of The Lodge, Little Tew, Oxon.
