Paul Alexander went out to Canada at C C Farr's request. He was of great assistance to CCF in administering the newly formed towhnship of Haileybury. As the town expanded more land had to be cleared. The method of clearance of choice was fire. One such fire got out of control in 1916 and destroyed much of the town. In 1922 the wind changed unexpectedly and even larger destruction took place. Paul Alexander was severely burned and taken to hospital in New Liskeard where he died three days later.
He had been christened on 6th November 1962 in Dedham, Essex and was buried in Haileybury.
